According to the source, truckers have to overcome certain difficulties now. For instance, the legal admissible weight of a truck is different in every country. The admissible weight per axle is 11.5 tonnes in Belarus, 10 tonnes in Russia, and 13 tonnes in Kazakhstan. "Truckers would love to load as much cargo as they can bear in Belarus but since they need to travel, for instance, in Russia, too, where the admissible weight per axle is lower, they cannot load their vehicles to capacity," said Alexei Avramenko. In his words, participants of the session of the intergovernmental council of road authorities agreed that requirements and standards should be unified.

According to the source, the agenda of the session included 12 items such as environmental requirements during designing, building, and operating international motorways, the development of border checkpoints into the countries that the Commonwealth of Independent States borders on. Participants of the session shared information about the development of local roads, traffic safety, personnel training and career enhancement.

The session gathered experts of transport authorities from more than ten countries. The next session of the intergovernmental council of road authorities is expected to take place in Minsk in September 2014.
