CIS Summit starts in Bishkek
A regular meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council starts in Bishkek today at the Ala-Archa state residence under the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz side, Kazinform Agency reports.
The meeting will adopt a number of important decisions aimed at the expansion and strengthening the cooperation of the CIS member states in trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomazrt Tokayev, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev have already arrived in Bishkek for the event.
As the Kyrgyz President’s press service informs, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan will not attend the event, which became known during his Oct 10 telephone conversation with President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov.
The Commonwealth of Independent States unites Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.
