ASTANA. August 7. KAZINFORM The Code of Journalistic Ethics should reflect the issues on coverage of interethnic and interfaith relations, Minister of Culture and Information Darkhan Mynbay said at a meeting devoted to the Kazakh President's article "Social Modernization of Kazakhstan: Twenty Steps to the Universal Labor Society."

The Ministry in cooperation with associations of journalists was urged to draft a new code of journalistic ethics. This work has already started and I think will effectively continue. The first document on journalistic ethics was developed in 1997 and was focused on the coverage of interethnic and interfaith relations. These are the strategic issues for our society, which I'm sure, will be reflected in the new edition of the Code," Mynbay said.

The Minister noted that the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan jointly with the Chief Editors' Forum has already begun to discuss the main parameters of this document.
