Colonel General of Kazakh National Security Committee Sat Tokpakbayev marks 85th anniversary
Stateman and public figure, Colonel General of the Kazakh National Security Committee Sat Tokpakbayev marks today, September 17, his 85th anniversary, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Sat Tokpakbayev was born on September 17, 1939. He graduated from the Kirov Kazakh State University, the Higher School of the Committee of State Security of the USRR in Minsk, and the Higher Diplomatic School of the USSR Foreign Ministry. He started his career at the prosecutor’s office in Almaty region moving up through the ranks to take key positions in the Committee of State Security of the USRR and Kazakhstan.
In 1993 - 1995 he served as the Deputy Chairman of the Kazakh National Security Committee. In 1995 - 1997 took the post of the head of the Presidential Security Service. In 1999 he was appointed the Defense Minister of Kazakhstan. In 2001-2002 he served as the Advisor to the President of Kazakhstan.
As earlier reported, the Head of State awarded outstanding public and political figure, Colonel General, a veteran of the national security and defense bodies Sat Tokpakbayev the title of the Khalyk Kakharmany (National Hero) and a special insignia – The Golden Star and Otan Order for his outstanding services to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
