Commissioning of Kars-Tbilisi-Baku trunk will enhance opportunities of Aktau port - A. Zhumagaliyev

ISTANBUL. September 7. KAZINFORM - Istanbul hosted the 11th Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communication Forum themed "Efficient transport and fast connection for all".

The Forum was attended by the heads of transport structures from 16 countries. Kazakhstan was represented by a delegation headed by the Minister of Transport and Communications Askar Zhumagaliyev.

In his speech Zhumagaliyev informed the participants that in the framework of the idea of the President on development of historic "Silk Road" and the transit potential of Kazakhstan priority projects in the transport sector are being implemented. The designs of road and rail sectors include the construction of transit corridors "Western Europe-Western China" and "Beineu-Aktau", Zhetygen-Horgos and Uzen-Turkmenistan border railways and construction of Zhezkazgan-Beyneu and Arkalyk-Shubarkol railways.

Minister Zhumagaliyev also held bilateral meetings with the Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications of Turkey Binali Yildirim, the Secretary-General of the Turkic Council Halil Akinci as well as Vice-Ministers of Lithuania, Latvia and Tajikistan.

During the talks with Turkish Minister Binali Yildirim Zhumagaliyev said that the launch of Kars-Tbilisi-Baku rail trunk would enhance the capacity of the Kazakh port in Aktau city. Also one of the most important projects for the development of multimodal transport is organization of railway freight transport from Kazakhstan to Turkey in the south of the Caspian Sea through Turkmenistan and Iran.

The head of the Kazakh delegation informed about the successful development of collaboration in the field of civil aviation with the leading role played by the national carriers of the two countries "Air Astana" and "Turkish Airlines" as well as "Scat" and "Pegasus".
