Considerable number of people killed in coalition airstrikes near Tripoli
"Bombs dropped by a colonial aggressor on Tajoura district hit a residential area killing a considerable number of people," a Libyan military source was quoted as saying.
He added that another airstrike delivered in the same location was intended against rescuers, who were looking for survivors in the area.
Airstrikes, which have been carried out by international coalition warplanes since Saturday, have caused significant damage to Lybia's defense facilities. Libyan state television has reported that at least 60 civilians have been killed and over 150 wounded by the attacks.
The UN Security Council imposed a no-fly zone over Libya last Friday allowing "all necessary measures" to protect civilians from leader Muammar Gaddafi's attacks on rebel-held towns, Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.
