Construction of Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline to wrap up by yearend
"This year, I believe, we will solve the problem of lack of gas in the southern regions of the country with the launch of the Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline. But for that to happen, the Beineu-Bozoi section needs to be finished this year. So far, the problem with financing of the pipeline construction and completion schedule persists. But, hopefully, the section will be completed by fall or by yearend," S. Akhmetov said at the meeting of the KazMunayGas JSC on Tuesday.
The Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline runs through the territory of the Mangystau, Aktobe, Kyzylorda and South Kazakhstan regions. Realization of the gas project is divided into several stages.
The first stage - the Bozoi-Shymkent section with gas capacity of 6 billion cu.m. was launched in September 2013. The second stage - the Beineu-Bozoi section with greater gas capacity (10 billion cu.m.) was expected to be commissioned in 2014-2015.
It is believed that 15 billion cu.m. of gas will be piped via the pipeline to provide the southern parts of Kazakhstan with natural gas and ensure its exports to China.
