Construction of container hub to start in Aktau port next year

 A container hub is to be built in the port of Aktau starting from next year, Kazakh transport minister Marat Karabayev said, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports. 

Next year, the construction of a container hub in the Aktau port is to start. The corresponding agreement is signed with the Lianyungang port. The feasibility study of the project is to be ready in April 2024. Construction of grain terminals has been completed in the Kuryk port this year. Terminals for general cargo as well as green hydrogen shipment are to be built. The total amount of investments to develop terminals in the Kuryk port is to stand at over $200mln, said Karabayev.

In addition, as the minister said, 404km of second tracks on railway sections Beineu-Mangystau, Zharyk-Sekseul, and Shalkar-Kuryk are set to be constructed.

Modernization of five stations is to be carried out as well as automatic block is to be introduced on Shalkar-Beineu section.

These measures are to be included in the approved plan on modernization of the main railway network until 2030. Also, additional tracks to the Aktau port’s terminals with the appropriate station infrastructure are to be constructed, said Karabayev.
