Contactless public transport payment introduced in all regions of Kazakhstan
Contactless payments in public transport have been adopted in all regions of Kazakhstan spearheaded by the Transport Ministry as part of the Digital Kazakhstan state program, Kazinform News Agency cites the ministry’s press service.
Currently e-ticketing has been rolled out in all cities of the republican significance and regional centers. Commuters across Kazakhstan choose to use contactless payment provided by 14 operators.
In the past three years the share of contactless payments has increased from 34 per cent to 79 per cent countrywide.
Kazakhstan has already benefited from the adoption of contactless public transport payments as they help greatly improve efficiency of passenger transport, allow gather data on passenger flow distribution and more.
With the introduction of contactless payment methods commuters now have several options to choose from. Those include bank cards with contactless NFC technology, mobile apps of Kazakhstani banks, mobile tickets, SMS-codes, QR-codes, and transit cards.
