Cooperation with UNICEF discussed at Kazakh Foreign Ministry
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted the Steering Committee on Coordinating the Development of the Cooperation Program between the Government of Kazakhstan and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for 2026-2030, Kazinform News Agency has learnt from the press service of the Kazakh MFA.
The event with the participation of government bodies’ representatives and UNICEF experts was co-chaired by First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Akan Rakhmetullin and Head of the UNICEF Country Office Rashed Sarwar.
Rakhmetullin highly appreciated the joint efforts emphasizing on the establishment of the institute of the Ombudsperson for Children’s Rights, introduction of the Child Well-being Index, launch of the National Fund for Children program, stricter measures for all forms of violence against children. “The adoption of these legislative and institutional measures is part of President Tokayev’s reform agenda aimed at building a fair and open society,” Rakhmetullin stated.
Sarwar noted that the new Cooperation Program between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and UNICEF reflects the shared goals to advance children’s rights. “By investing in their education, healthcare and overall well-being, we are laying a solid foundation for their future lives and making strategic investments to develop the country’s leadership in the region and around the world,” he said.
