The nominees for the 82nd Golden Globes Awards have been announced, showcasing a mix of newcomers and seasoned favorites across film and television categories. Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports on the details.

The top competitor of the year turned out to be Emilia Pérez. With an incredible 10 nominations in all including Best Film – Musical or Comedy, Best Director (Jacques Audiard), Best Screenplay, and Best Original Song for El Maland Mi Camino, the musical-comedy scored. Karla Sofía Gascón is nominated for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy, Selena Gomez for Supporting Actress, and Zoe Saldaña also for Supporting Actress among its cast.

Sebastian Stan had a notable year featuring double acting nominations. For The Apprentice, he is in running for Best Actor in a Drama; for A Different Man, he is in running for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical. Kate Winslet also got double honors: she was nominated for Best Actress in a Limited Series for HBO's The Regime and won a Best Actress nomination in a Drama for Lee, where she plays photojournalist Lee Miller. Similarly, Selena Gomez got nominations for her comedic turn in Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building and her supporting role in Emilia Pérez.

The eye-catching musical adaptation Wicked also made buzz, securing nominations for Best Film – Musical or Comedy, Cynthia Erivo (Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy), Ariana Grande (Supporting Actress), and recognition in the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category.

With six nominations including Best Film - Drama, Best Director for Brady Corbet, and acting honors for Adrien Brody and Felicity Jones, The Brutalist became a critical favorite in drama. Conclave attracted a lot of interest as well with nominations for Best Film – Drama, Best Director (Edward Berger), Best Supporting Actress (Isabella Rossellini), and Ralph Fiennes as Best Actor.

From the television standpoint, The Bear excelled in both acting and series recognition. The drama secured nominations for Best Musical or Comedy Series, Jeremy Allen White (Best Actor), and Ayo Edebiri and Liza Colón-Zayas for their respective performances. Among six nominations for HBO's Shōgun were Best Drama Series, Hiroyuki Sanada for Best Actor, and Tadanobu Asano for Best Supporting Actor.

As expected, animated films were a highlight of the year, with Inside Out 2 and The Wild Robot receiving nods for Best Animated Film and recognition in the Original Score category. The Wild Robot also got an Original Song nomination for Kiss the Sky.

Viola Davis will be celebrated with the Cecil B. DeMille Award, while Ted Danson will receive the Carol Burnett Award, acknowledging their illustrious contributions to film and television, respectively.
