Crucial to coordinate work to overcome crisis ? EurAsEC Sec Gen
ASTANA. March 11. KAZINFORM. /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Secretary General of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) Tair Mansurov has made a report at the II Astana Economic Forum today.
?Governments of the EurAsEC states exert every effort to overcome crisis impact. In this context it is important to coordinate joint activities. As is known, the EurAsEC is the most successful integration organization on the post-Soviet space created in 2000. Over 8 years, due to the functioning free trade zone, the volume of commodity circulation between the EurAsEC countries increased 4.1 times, from USD 29 billion in 2000 to USD 123 billion in 2008. Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia will finish formation of the Customs Union in 2010. It will be established in accordance with the international standards ? single customs tariff, single customs territory, single system of external trade regulation. Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will join the Customs Union as soon as they become ready?, Mr. Mansurov said.
He noted that the joint proposals prepared by the EurAsEC member states on the issues of reforming the world financial system were aimed at eliminating the consequences of the world economic crisis. Russia will present them at the G-20 Summit. Besides, the EurAsEC Antirecessionary Fund is expected to start work in the nearest future.
