"Only one more step is needed to complete the creation of the CSTO single air defense system. The Russia-Belarus air defense system is already operational. The Russia-Kazakhstan system has been legally defined. The Russia-Armenia system will soon be operational, too. All this will be carried out under a single command," Gennady Nevyglas said.

He explained that the document on the collective rapid response forces administration has not been signed yet for a technical reason: Kyrgyzstan needs the approval of the parliament. Gennady Nevyglas noted that the Kyrgyzstan MPs assured that the problem will be resolved. The document will be signed by the heads of the CSTO member states later.

The provision of the forces is another matter that has to be dealt with. "The matter is regulated by interstate programs. We need to bring national mechanisms in compliance. This should be done by the end of the year," Gennady Nevyglas said. He emphasized that cooperation in the defense sector is gaining momentum. Joint ventures are set up in Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia. The program to equip the collective rapid response forces is in progress. This pertains, first of all, to electronic countermeasures and drones, BelTA reports.

The formation of the collective emergency response system has been launched. "A decision has been made to create regional bases where material resources will be accumulated. They will also be used as operational centers during emergency situations.
