CSTO discussed illegal migration issues in Erevan

MOSCOW. KAZINFORM - A meeting of the Coordinating Council of Heads of Competent Authorities on Fighting Illegal Migration took place in Erevan on February 5, press secretary of the CSTO Vladimir Zeinetdinov informed.

A sitting was chaired by director of the Federal Migration Service of Russia Konstantin Romodamovsky with the participation of Secretary General of the CSTO Nikolai Bordyuzha.

Heads of the competent authorities of the CSTO member states working in the sphere of illegal migration and representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Executive Committee of the Bureau of the International Migration Organization in Moscow took part in the sitting.

At the sitting, the participants discussed the order of organization and holding of prevention procedures and special operations on fighting illegal migration called "Illegal migrant-2015, approved the idea of and algorithm of actions.

The Secretary General of the CSTO noted in his speech that it was the primary task of the Coordinating Council of Heads of Competent Authorities on Fighting Illegal Migration.

"Our goals are still the same. Along with strengthening of the measures of control and migration legislation, we have to take measures on detecting new methods of illegal migration and prevention criminal activities of organized gangs and societies with international and interregional contacts that are engaged in organization of illegal migration. We were quite successful in this sphere last year and reported the results of the work to the Heads of the CSTO member-states and security councils," N. Bordyuzha said.

The Coordinating Council of Heads of Competent Authorities on Fighting Illegal Migration also heard the reports about the activity of the Eurasian Economic Commission in the sphere of labour migration within the formed EEU. The participants exchanged opinions about the possible directions of cooperation with the structures of the Commission.

The next sitting of the council will be held in Belarus, September 2015.
