CSTO ministers, secretaries met in Moscow

MOSCOW. February 4. KAZINFORM /Arnur Rakhymbekov/ A joint session of the Foreign Ministers? Council, Defense Ministers? Council and Committee of Security Council Secretaries of the CSTO has been held in Moscow President Hotel; Kazinform reports.

Kazakh Minister of Foreign Affairs M.Tazhin, Minister of Defense D.Akhmetov and Secretary of Kazakh Security Council K.Suleimenov take part in the meeting. A project on the CSTO collective rapid reaction force is a main issue of the session. An informal summit of the heads of the states in Kazakhstan in December gave an impulse to development of the system of collective security. At the meeting the presidents agreed on creation of a collective force potential of the Organization, which can rapidly react to any threats. It touches upon military and frontier conflicts, forceful prevention of terrorist acts, holding of special operations on countering drug traffic and other kinds of organized crime. Within the informal summit agreements on creation of the CSTO collective rapid reaction force were reached. Besides, issues on the CSTO budget and Secretary General were considered.
