CU is important element of economic development of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus - WCO Sec Gen Kunio Mikuriya

BRUSSELS. December 22. KAZINFORM /Dimash Syzdykov/ The Customs Union is an important element for economic development of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus.

Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Kunio Mikuriya has said it in an interview to a Kazinform correspondent.

According to the WCO Secretary General, decision on establishment of the Customs Union of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus was very correct, hence "today such integration is very important for economic development of the states. It will allow to actively develop trade relations and other economic ties both between the Customs Union states and non-member countries".

Besides, Kunio Mikuriya noted that the World Customs Organization has big expectations in connection with the Customs Union establishment. He reminded that during the Customs Union presentation in the WCO Headquarters in Brussels in January, 2010 the Organization member states expressed interest in the Customs Union establishment and noted that the WCO leadership is ready to support further development of the Customs Union and its conformity to international standards.
