Cupa Max Ausnit: Astana's Alessandro Romele finishes 2nd at one-day race in Romania
The rider of Astana Qazaqstan Development Team Alessandro Romele finished second in the Cupa Max Ausnit, Kazinform News Agency cites the Team's press service.
A one-day race with a distance of 155 kilometers took place in Lugoj, Romania.
“I haven’t competed in races for a long time. After the Italian national championships, I had a productive high-altitude training camp, but then I got sick and missed a few days of training and a planned race. Today I felt that the work that was done could yield a good result, and I know that the team believed in me, but unfortunately in the end we missed a decisive attack. I would like to thank the staff and my teammates for the work they did”, – said Alessandro Romele after the race.
“After such a good day, when the team worked perfectly, the second place did not bring much joy to all of us. From the start everything went as we planned, Mattia (Negrente) was in the breakaway, and the rest of the riders were preparing for the finale. We controlled the race but in the last meters, we missed the attack from our contender, and as a result, Alessandro (Romele) finished second. We need to move on and get ready for the Tour of Szeklerland, where I hope our trainee Lev Gonov will be able to start strong and demonstrate a result in the opening prologue”, – said the team’s Sports Director Alexander Shushemoin.
