Customs Union open to new members from EurAsEC

SCOW. December 20. KAZINFORM Presidents of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia Alexander Lukashenko, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Dmitry Medvedev expect other states of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) to join the customs troika in the future. This issue was on the agenda of a meeting of the EurAsEC Interstate Council (at the level of heads of state) in Moscow.

"We hope that other states will join this troika in the long term," the Russian President said. According to him, this ambitious project is starting to become a reality.

"We adopted the Declaration of the Eurasian economic integration as the road map. According to the document, the objective is to build the Eurasian Economic Union," Dmitry Medvedev noted.

According to BelTA, he recalled that the main goal is to create the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space. The Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia was enforced on 1 July. The Treaty of the Single Economic Space will enter into force on 1 January.
