EVENTS
1990 – The Kazakh Academy of Agricultural Sciences is established.
1997 – The Monument to the Victims of Political Repressions is unveiled in Akmola (now Astana).
2009 – Robert Blake, US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, participates in the opening ceremony of the US Consulate General in Almaty, the first one in Central Asia.
2011 – Astana-based Kalibek Kuanyshbayev Music and Drama Theatre and Maxim Gorky Russian Drama Theatre gain the status of academic theatres.
2012 – Kazakh-Polish Council of Cooperation and Development is set up in Warsaw, Poland. Its activity is aimed at forming the platform of partnership between Kazakhstan and Poland, strengthening the trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian ties between the countries.
2012 – Kazmedia Center management company officially becomes a full-fledged member of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU). ABU contributes to the development of TV and radio broadcasting in the region, as well as regional and international cooperation among the broadcasters. It also promotes collective interests of TV and radio broadcasters and negotiates rights for major sports events and organizes coverage for the region.
2016 – Construction of Central Asia’s largest bridge over the Irtysh River was completed in Pavlodar Region. The project is implemented under the Nurly Zhol program and is a part of Center-East Corridor. The capacity of the four-lane bridge is 10,000 cars per day.
2016 – Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu arrives for his first official visit to Astana. Former President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and Israeli Premier discuss economic interaction issues and participate in a joint business forum.
2017 – Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA) becomes a member of the Islamic Financial Services Board.
2018 - The Kazakh microsatellite KazSTSAT takes its first space image. The satellite flying over the territory of South America captures the images of the city of Rio Grande – the largest port city in the south of Argentina – with a resolution of 17 meters.
2020 – First Consulate General of Kazakhstan is opened in Columbia.
2020 – Commemorative envelopes dedicated to two jubilee dates – the 1,150th anniversary of philosopher and scholar Abu Nasr al-Farabi and 175th anniversary of outstanding Kazakh poet and educator Abai Kunanbayev – are issued in Beijing.
2022 – The National Library of Kazakhstan hosts a conference devoted to Uzbekali Dzhanibekov, prominent statesman and public figure, who greatly contributed to museology in Kazakhstan.
