1931 – Karaganda Corrective Labor Camp (KarLAG) is set up in Dolinka village, 45 kilometers away from Karaganda. More than 1 million people are detained there throughout the period of its functioning. The KarLAG is liquidated in 1959.
1996 – The First Congress of Judges of Kazakhstan is held.
2005 – Almaty hosts a presentation of the book “Pana” by Chinese-born Kazakh writer Kazhygumar Shabdanuly. The book unveils the life of commander Zukh Batyr.
2011 – Presidents of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus sign documents on establishment of the Eurasian Economic Commission, following the sitting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Moscow.
2012 – Kazakhstan assumes co-chairmanship in the Central Asian Initiative of the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development.
2012 –First Kazakh school is opened in Houston, the U.S. with the efforts of the Kazakhs living in this city and active support of the Kazakh Embassy in the U.S.
2016 - Saryarka short film festival takes place for the first time in Astana.
2017 - A conference hall of the World Bank in Washington, D.C., is named after Kazakhstani Alma Urazalinova, the first young Kazakh woman employed by the WB. For many years she worked hard on syndication processes and Islamic financing, and was the first to decide to build relationships with banks and implement complex projects in developing countries.
2017 – Kazakh writer Akhmetzhan Ashiri receives the first prize of the Dede Korkut International Contest of Plays for the story “Sharbak”. The awards ceremony is held at the General Secretariat of the TURKSOY.
2019 - The first low-orbit spacecraft of the British company OneWeb, designed to provide users with high-speed Internet directly via satellite communications, are delivered to Baikonur.
2021 – Street named after Kazakh poet, philosopher, and founder of national literature Abai Kunanbayev, and the Republic of Kazakhstan Square are inaugurated in Rosario city of Argentina.
2021 – Kazakh female writers Zira Naurzbaeva and Lilya Kalaus entered into an agreement with Amazon Publishing House to publish a trilogy about Batu. “The Adventures of Batu and His Friends” is a collection of action stories in which modern Kazakh children find themselves in the magical world of Kazakh mythology.
