Declaration: Military cooperation within CSTO is not aimed against other countries

The Declaration of the Collective Security Council, adopted today in Astana, states that military cooperation within the Collective Security Treaty Organization is not aimed against other countries, Kazinform News Agency reports.

We advocate the progressive development of forces and means of the collective security system with the aim to increase their combat readiness to meet the tasks set as well as address challenges and threats. Highlighting that military cooperation within the Organization is not aimed against other countries and purely defensive in nature, we hail the efficiency of planned joint drills of troops (Collective forces) of the CSTO, reads the Declaration.

In order to promote military and technical cooperation, the CSTO countries seek to continue providing components of the Collective Security Treaty Organization troops with the latest and advanced weapons, military and special vehicles, special means.

We attach great importance to further development of interaction within the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, so as to improve interparliamentary cooperation within the organization, reads the document.

To note, the Heads of CSTO member States adopted the Declaration of the Collective Security Council.
