Declaration of Collective Security Council: What does it say?
The Heads of the CSTO member States adopted the Declaration of Collective Security Council in the Kazakh capital of Astana today, Kazinform News Agency cites the website of the Organization.
We call for joint work of the CSTO member states to strengthen information security and prevent the use of information and communication technologies for terrorist, extremist and other criminal purposes. We consider the use of information space by terrorists to promote extremist ideas, including among young people, a serious threat, reads the Declaration.
The Heads of the CSTO member states also urged all-out efforts to ensure that the Convention Against Cybercrime adopted by the UN Ad Hoc Committee enters into force as soon as possible, highlighting the importance of establishing a universal international legal regime to regulate the field of information and communication technologies.
We note the common interest in promoting research and the use of space solely for peaceful purposes in accordance with the norms of international law. We highlight the need to activate joint efforts to prevent an arms race in space in favor of early launch of talks on an international legally-binding instrument on the prevention of an arms race in outer space (PAROS), providing for strong guarantees, that ensure that weapons are not placed in outer space and that force or threat of force against or with the use of space objects are not used, reads the Declaration of Collective Security Council.
