Denis Ten: Sports potential of Kazakhstan should be aimed at reaching Olympic heights

ALMATY. KAZINFORM - The third place in the overall standings at the Universiade in Spain means that Kazakhstan has a great sports potential that needs to be developed to reach new Olympic heights, Kazakhstani figure skater, bronze medal winner at the Sochi Olympic Games Denis Ten told in Almaty today.

He congratulated the team of Kazakhstan each athlete on their success in Spain.

"Unfortunately, I could not participate in this Universiade because of the contract I abide by. However, I'm very proud of Kazakhstani sportsmen. They topped all the expectations and surprised not just their fellow countrymen by the entire world," D. Ten said.

Besides, it was noted that such sports events as the Universiade helped to revive and popularize sport. It is a difficult job for the cities and towns, for heads of sports organizations and responsible state authorities and for the athletes themselves. However, these types of sport events help to accumulate the necessary experience to become stronger.
