Deputy Defense Minister General Bagdad Maykeev arrested
«Senior military official, who supervised all the military procurement, has been accused of bribetaking for lobbying the interests of certain commercial structures», KTK television channel reports.
Security officers detained the Major General in the yard of his house. Maykeev was arrested with USD 2 million which were given to him, according to investigators, by businessmen participating in a tender of the defense department.
Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of the General who has being put into the detention facility of the National Security Committee.
That is the third corruption scandal in the Ministry of Defence for the last year. Previously Generals Almas Asen and Askar Buldeshov were sent to jail for bribery and abuse of power.
