Deputy Kazakh PM took part in openinig ceremony of Expo-2012, Korea
The main theme of Yeosu Expo "The living ocean and coast" conceptualizes the most desirable future for the ocean whose sound preservation and well being is essentially linked the survival of humankind. Yeosu Expo's theme, was divided into three sub-themes: Coastal Development and Preservation, New Resources Technology, and Creative Maritime Activities. These sub-themes have been further developed into 6 thematic groups, namely, Climate & Environment, Marine Life, Marine Industry & Technology, Marine City & Marine Civilization, and Marine Arts, each of which will be demonstrated in the respective sub-theme pavilions.
Following the exposition opening Kairat Kelimbetov visited the pavilions of Belgium, Russia and other countries and met with "Expo-2012" Commissioner Lee Joon-hee.
During his stay in South Korea, Kelimbetov held talks with Chairman of the Korean International Trade Association Han Duck-soo, Minister of Commerce Park Tae-ho and "Samsung" company management.
They discussed issues of commercial and economic cooperation between two countries, the activities of Korea in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the prospects for Astana to host "Expo-2017".
Today K. Kelimbetov will meet with the Chairman of the "Global Green Growth Institute" Han Seung-soo and visit "LG Chem" company's gas and chemical complex. In the afternoon Deputy Kazakh Prime Minister is expected to visit the "Samsung" Economic Research Institute to discuss issues of strategic cooperation with Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan's National Day will be held on July 28 on the basis of the exhibition hall. "Expo-2012" halls will work during the period from May 12 to August 12.
The organizers expect that this year's exhibition will be attended by more than 8 million people.
