On October 28, the capital of Mongolia hosted the first meeting of the Kazakh-Mongolian Business Council, held as part of the state visit of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to Ulaanbaatar, Kazinform News Agency reports citing the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry.
Taking the floor, Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry Zhaslan Madiyev outlined the major vectors of the two countries’ interaction in digitalization, such as creation of an innovative ecosystem, development of startup projects, digital government implementation (GovTech) and aerospace industry projects.
The minister underscored successful participation of Mongolian startups in Astana Hub’s accelerator programs and growing presence of Kazakh startups in the Mongolian markets.
“The exchange of experience and support for startups contribute to the development of entrepreneurship potential and growth of technologies in both countries,” said Zhaslan Madiyev.
The minister also surveyed e-Mongolia platform launched in 2020 to simplify access to governmental services. The platform covers 85% of the country’s population. Kazakhstan’s eGov system which provides access to more than 90% of governmental services became a topic of discussion too.
During the visit, Zhaslan Madiyev met the leaders of Mongolia’s IT market, including ICT Group, the largest private operator of information systems. ICT Group covers more than 91% of the population and introduces innovations in areas such as artificial intelligence, blockchain and the development of language models for the Mongolian language.
He also visited Mongolia’s National IT Park which provides support to the startups through the provision of jobs, professional certification, and development of digital skills, creating conditions for the Mongolian startups to get access to the international markets.
As Zhaslan Madiyev noted, Kazakhstan-Mongolia cooperation in digitalization and technologies will allow to improve technical competences in two countries and application of new technologies in citizens’ daily life.
"The Mongolian side showed particular interest in certain e-Government solutions of Kazakhstan, since structurally both countries have similar parameters. These solutions may also be in demand in Mongolia. Also, the Mongolian government is now focusing on the digital economy and AI, which may be interesting for our country," he said.
