One of the oldest Christmas market, Striezelmarkt
Striezelmarkt is one of the oldest Christmas markets in Europe. The 590th edition will take place in 2024, making it the oldest Christmas market in Germany. It was founded in Dresden in 1434 and has been held annually since then in the run-up to Christmas.
Named after the beloved Christmas bread Stollen, or "Striezel," the market hosts a popular Stollen festival with a grand procession celebrating this delicacy.
Originally intended as a meat market by decree of Saxon Prince Friedrich II, Striezelmarkt has evolved into a lively gathering place showcasing regional crafts, treats, and seasonal charm.
The Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt 2024 opens on November 29 and runs through December 24.
Christmas market in Colmar, the spirit of french Сhristmas
Colmar's Christmas Markets feature 6 markets throughout the town, each offering its own variety of products and goods. For example, the large Colmar Christmas market is located on the Place des Dominiques near the Church of the Foot, while the Christmas Crafts Fair offers antiques and local crafts.
