The Group of Experts of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), which monitors trials related to the January events in the Republic of Kazakhstan, was presented  a documentary film entitled “Qantar. A Coup Attempt. How It Was”, filmed on the second anniversary of the tragic events.

The film details what happened on the streets of Kazakhstan's cities, how and when key decisions were made, and how the crisis was overcome.

The online meeting was attended by the Head of the ODIHR Rule of Law Department, Mr. Barba, experts K. Simonsen, K. Russell, A. Pasquero and other field observers.

This group, set up by the Kazakh side in November 2022, was supported in participating in more than 35 trials in the cities of Almaty, Taraz and Taldykorgan, as well as meetings with relevant government bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The process of preparing the final report and the forthcoming final mission of the Office's experts to Kazakhstan as part of the judicial monitoring project of the “January events” were also discussed.
