DOMBAUYL MAUSOELUM
BAUYL MAUSOLEUM is a tomb construction, monument of the medieval architecture in Karaganda oblast. It is located in 50 km to the north-east of Zhezkazgan town on the left bank of the Kengir River.
Dombauyl Mausoleum has a shape of a yurt. It is built of a flag-stone and represents a conic construction on a square-like foundation.
The total height of the building is 6 m. The author of the project is unknown.
The Dombauyl Mausoleum was mentioned for the first time in Shokan Ualikhanov's article On Kirgiz-Kaisak tombs and antiquities in general.
Scientists carry the Dombauyl Mausoleum back to the pre-Islamic period (VIII-IX centuries). Stone tomb constructions like Dombauyl were called uitasami, dynami by Kazakhs. They are widely spread in Central Kazakhstan, in particular in the Torgay river-valley.
