Draft new EU-Kazakhstan agr't on advanced partnership and cooperation handed over to Kazakhstan

BRUSSELS. March 17. KAZINFORM Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Alexey Volkov met Representative of the European External Action Service Gunnar Wiegand in Brussels.

The Kazakh side was presented a draft text for a new agreement on advanced partnership and cooperation between the EU and Kazakhstan.

"We have discussed the issues of the new agreement on advanced partnership and cooperation. This is a large scale document that will cover all areas of cooperation between Astana and Brussels. So, there are various meetings at various levels, both on technical matters, regulations and specific projects, which have already been implemented. Today we have been presented the text of the agreement, which will be forwarded for consideration to the various ministries and departments of Kazakhstan," Volkov told journalists after the meeting.

According to Gunnar Wiegand, since the establishment of relations between Kazakhstan and the EU the two sides have passed the long path of development. "In this regard, we need a modern framework for our cooperation in order to deepen political and economic relations. This agreement will create conditions for business and simplify the relationship between the citizens of the EU and Kazakhstan," he said.

"The agreement will include specific provisions in foreign policy and security, political reforms, internal affairs, justice, economy, environment, energy, transportation and many other areas of bilateral cooperation," he added.
