During an official visit to Grimsby Tuesday, the Duchess was greeted by well-wishers and when presented with a teddy bear by someone in the crowd, Kate said, "Thank you, I will take that for my d..." stopping herself before saying anything further.

A woman named Sandra Cook, who was standing nearby, overheard the Duchess's stammer.

"You were going to say 'daughter', weren't you?" Cook then pressed for further information, Xinhuanet reports.

The Duchess backtracked, telling Cook, "No..., We don't know...we're not telling."

Kate, who is now 21 weeks pregnant, did reveal that the royal baby has been kicking quite a bit. When asked if the baby is moving around or kicking, Kate replied, "Yes, it is, very much so."

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's first child is due in July, and will one day be either king or queen of the United Kingdom. Precedent dictates that the sex of royal babies is never announced in advance.
