E Kazakhstan confirms 87 measles cases

East Kazakhstan region reports 87 confirmed measles cases as of November 22, 2023. The majority of those infected or 83.9% are children under 14 (73 cases). 14.9% are adults (13 cases) and 1.1% are teenagers (one case), Kazinform News Agency cites the sanitary-epidemiological control committee of the healthcare ministry.

Measles cases were reported in Glubokov district – 3, Zaissan district – 1, Altay district – 2, Samar district – 8, Ulan district - 3 and in Ust-Kamenogorsk - 70.

Most of those infected are unvaccinated people - 71. Of them, 23 were not immunized due to medical contraindications, 26 refused vaccination, 18 are the children who have not reached the age of vaccination and four are missed opportunities for vaccination.
