Earthquake hits Zhetysu region

An earthquake measuring 3 on MPV scale hit 20 kilometers away from Tekeli in Zhetysu region, Kazinform News Agency reports.

According to the emergencies authorities, the quake occurred on Saturday, January 13, at 10:08 pm.

The epicenter of the quake was 230 kilometers to the northeast of Almaty, in mountainous districts of Zhetysu region, 20 kilometers away from Tekeli. The magnitude of the quake made 4.6 on MPV scale. The depth of the epicenter is 15 kilometers. Tremors in Tekeli measured 3.0.

Local executive bodies, police department, Kazselezashita, prosecutor’s office and other organizations were warned about the quake by the emergencies authorities. No casualties were reported.
