Ebola death toll grows to 1,069 in West Africa
GENEVA. KAZINFORM The death toll from the Ebola virus, covering confirmed, probable and suspect cases, stood at 1,069 in the four affected West African countries as of Monday, up from 1,013 Saturday, the World Health Organization said Wednesday.
Guinea reported 377 deaths, the most, followed by Liberia with 355 and Sierra Leone with 334. Nigeria had three deaths, according to WHO. Infections including probable and suspect cases increased 128 since the last update to 1,975, the organization said, Kyodo reports. On Friday, the WHO said the Ebola outbreak in West Africa constitutes a public health emergency of international concern but in a statement Wednesday, the organization said it does not recommend any general travel or trade restrictions be applied.
