EC warns five more EU nations over late energy market rules
BRUSSELS. April 26. KAZINFORM The European Commission Thursday sent final warnings to five more EU countries for failing to notify that they have transposed the EU's third gas and electricity market opening directives into national law.
The deadline for all 27 EU countries to transpose the directives was March 3, 2011, Platts reports.
The EC said Finland, Sweden and the UK have not notified for both directives, while Austria and Estonia have not notified for the electricity directive.
The countries have two months to respond to the EC's warning and notify their national transposition measures. If they fail to comply the EC can refer them to the EU Court of Justice.
