EEC, CIS Statistical Committee sign memorandum on cooperation
Tatyana Valovaya and Vladimir Sokolin confirmed mutual interest and readiness for constructive cooperation in the field of statistics, the concerted and coordinated actions for the development of statistical information systems of the Member States of the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space and the CIS Member States and meeting the newest scientific developments and international standards in the field of statistics, based on the fundamental principles of official statistics adopted by the UN Statistical Commission.
According to the memorandum, the parties intend to coordinate the dissemination of official statistical information on the socio-economic development of the Member States of the Customs Union and the CIS, and also assist in meeting users' needs in statistical information.
The parties are planning to share the official statistical information, approximate the statistical methodology with international standards, and prepare analytical materials, BelTA reports.
The memorandum provides for consultations, joint workshops, conferences, forums, roundtables, preparing joint publications, and ensuring access to statistical databases.
