EEC drafts agreement on distribution of alcohol products in Customs Union
The draft agreement is currently at the stage of the completion of its interstate coordination procedures by the Customs Union member states.
"Despite the fact that today the Belarusian alcohol market is almost closed for the supplies from Kazakhstan and Russia, following the relevant negotiations the Republic of Belarus agreed to lift the special importer procedure that restricts the imports of alcohol products to the country, including from the member states of the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space," Rustam Akberdin, Director of the EEC Department for Entrepreneurship Development, said.
According to the EEC, the parties keep exemptions envisaged by the national legislation in respect to some commodities (alcohol, tobacco, medical goods, pharmaceutical products, oil, gas, oil products, vehicles and fish). These exemptions restrict free movement of the abovementioned goods in mutual trade. The Eurasian Economic Commission jointly with the Customs Union member states has been working on their gradual removal, BelTA reports.
