EEU Customs Code sets electronic document control, Finance Ministry
"Eurasian Economic Commission experts from the three sides have worked out a project of the EEU Customs Code. The project will organize and codify the existing regulations. To date, out of 22 existing agreements on customs matters, 16 have been codified in the Customs Code," said D. Mamasheva. Draft EEU Customs Code consists of 9 sections, 4 applications, 60 chapters and 455 articles. At the present time EEU customs relations are controlled by the Customs Code of the Customs Union. D.Mamasheva told about the main innovations in the draft Customs Code of the EEU. This project is focused primarily on electronic document control. The discussion paper allows for submitting electronic declaration without providing documents confirming the information. In addition, the draft Code provides for automatic release and automatic registration of incoming declarations without involving customs officials.
