Egypt is invited to take part in World Religions Congress
ASTANA. April 9. KAZINFORM Vice-Spokesman of Kazakhstan Senate Mukhambet Kopeyev had meetings with Grand Imam Sheikh Mohamed Sayed Tantawi and Minister on Religious Affairs of Egypt Mohammad Hamdi Zaqzouq as part of the special mission in Egypt, the Senate press service advised Kazinform.
Mr. Kopeyev extended invitations by Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Head of the Secretariat of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev to take part in the III Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in June, 2009 in Astana.
The Vice Speaker handed over the invitation addressed to the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Minister H.Zaqzouq who will deliver the invitation to the Head of republic.
At the meeting with Sheikh M.Tantawi Kopeyev appreciated the contribution of the Grand Imam to the cause of interfaith accord and promotion of the initiative of the Kazakh President on convocation of the World Religions Congress.
Sheikh Mohamed Tantawi expressed gratitude for the invitation. He emphasized the importance of forthcoming event and confirmed absolute support of Nursultan Nazarbayev's initiatives in the cause of interfaith harmony.
