Egypt: Shark attacks two Italian tourists in Marsa Alam, one dead and one injured

Two tourists were attacked by a shark off the coast of the Egyptian coastal resort of Marsa Alam, overlooking the Red Sea. According to reports, both are Italian nationals: one died, while the other was injured, Agenzia Nova reports.

Egypt's Environment Ministry said that following the shark attack, the alert level in the area was raised and an investigation was opened to clarify the circumstances of the incident.

By order of the ministry, the stretch of sea where the tragedy occurred will remain closed to swimming for at least two days.
