Election of akims of districts and regional centers wraps up in Kazakhstan

The election of akims (governors) of districts and regional centers completed in Kazakhstan on Sunday, November 5, Kazinform News Agency reports.

In many regions the election finished at 08:00 pm, while in Aktobe, Atyrau, West Kazakhstan, Kyzylorda and Mangistau regions, the polling stations finished their work at 09:00 pm owing to time-zone differences.

1,491 polling stations operated countrywide on the election day, with 1,062,327 voters included into the voter list.

The election of akims of districts and regional centers was held in Kazakhstan in a pilot mode.

Maslikhats of 17 regions approved a list of 45 districts and regional centers for holding the election in a pilot mode. Of them, three are cities and 42 are districts.
