Electric railway connects Xinjiang and Kazakhstan
ASTANA. December 21. KAZINFORM The first electric train in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region left Jinghe county in northwest Xinjiang at 11:00 in the morning on Friday, bound for the town of Horgos, on the Chinese border with Kazakhstan, according to a report from cnr.cn.

The 286 kilometer long journey runs along a track that cost six billion yuan ($878million) to build, and has 21 stations.
The electric railway will play an important role in transportation to Kazakhstan, the cnr.cn report said, and Kazakhstan has also announced a plan to build railways to link up with the Xinjiang railway, China Daily reports.
