Elena Rybakina’s position in WTA Singles Rankings revealed
The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) has presented an updated list of athletes’ singles and doubles rankings following the end of the WTA Finals Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, Kazinform News Agency cites Sports.kz.
The top three tennis players in the world ranking remained unchanged. Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka occupying the top of the WTA Singles Rankings is followed by Pole Iga Swiatek in the 2nd spot. American Coco Gauff is ranked 3rd after securing a victory at the WTA Finals Riyadh.
Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan dropped one spot landing the 6th line. Zheng Qinwen of China, a finalist of the WTA Finals Riyadh, secured еру 5th spot.
During the WTA Finals Riyadh, Rybakina faced Sabalenka in the last match of the Purple Group and sensationally beat her in three sets - 6:4, 3:6, 6:1. Thus, in the Purple Group, Rybakina won once and was defeated twice by the Italian player Jasmine Paolini (ranked 4th) and China’s Zheng Qinwen (ranked 7th).
Another Kazakh athlete Yulia Putintseva ended the season at the 29th position in the WTA Singles Rankings.
Katerina Siniakova and Erin Routliffe retained their top spots in the WTA Doubles Rankings. Gabriela Dabrowski of Canada is up two lines securing the 3rd position. Kazakhstani Anna Danilina remained at the 22nd position. Putintseva landed the 111th position. Zhibek Kulambayeva moved down seven spots to 157th line.
