Emerson College Professor told of ways of information campaign at crisis

ASTANA. March 6. KAZINFORM - Today in Astana in the National Academic Library of Kazakhstan there has been conducted a meeting with Professor at Emerson College's Department of Communication Studies Dr. Gregory Payne. The organizer of the event is the U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan.

The meeting has been oriented to discussing the trend of modern media outlets, in particular, it addressed the following topic: "Technology of crisis communications and reputation management" (technology and internal crisis of PR, crisis as a threat to reputation, methods of establishing and maintaining contacts with journalists and the media in the course of crisis, the ethical standards of behavior in crisis situations), as well as coordination of materials with information sources, their enforcing by the expert, an information campaign at a time when public confidence in the authorities is at a critical point.

Dr. Payne is an expert in political communication, diplomacy, communication during crisis situations; he is a specialist in the coverage with special persons (such as the death of Princess Diana, John Kennedy Jr., etc.), as well as crisis situations associated with medicine and protests. In the past Mr. Payne was the president of the International Academy of Business, chairman of the Department of Political Communications of the US National Association of Communications and the head of the Department of Information at Emerson College.
