President of France Emmanuel Macron met with students of the International School of Journalism of the Maqsut Narikbayev University, Kazinform News Agency reports.
President of France Emmanuel Macron arrived in Kazakhstan for an official visit on November 1, 2023 at the invitation of the Head of State. This is a reciprocal visit of the French leader to Astana. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited Paris on November 29-30 last year.
It bears to remind that following last year’s talks the sides signed 35 documents called to strengthen strategic partnership in trade and economic, aerospace, engineering, mining, agro-industrial, nuclear and energy sectors.
Among the documents signed was the Declaration of intent in the sphere higher education and research cooperation. Kazakhstan and France heavily invest in the development of ties between their educational and research centers. Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute has been functioning since 2014. Cooperation with three French higher education institutes is being actively developed, namely the University of Poitiers, the University of Lorraine and the University of Strasbourg.
As part of his visit to Astana, the President of France met with students and professors of one of the most prestigious universities of our country, the Maqsut Narikbayev University. Emmanuel Macron and MNU students had a Q&A session during which they focused on the most promising areas of cooperation between Kazakhstan and France.
According to President Macron, Kazakhstan and France are keen to step up strategic partnership moving forward. He also highlighted the importance of the Trans-Caspian Transport Route in promoting connectivity of continents. The French leader believes that Kazakhstan’s export capacity opens up vast prospects for Kazakhstani producers amid global changes.
Speaking of the international agenda issues, Emmanuel Macron shared his vision of preserving stability in the world and region, noting the special role of the policy Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pursues.
How to maintain peace, cooperation, international law during this time? These are the problems, which certainly exist today. How to maintain the economic stability in the country in case there are unstable neighbors? How can we maintain peace in our homeland? During such a period, we need to keep our stability, our values. In my view, the President of Kazakhstan carries out such work. You reach heights through your projects and vision, said Macron.
To conclude the meeting, the French President got familiarized with the activity of the MNU International School of Journalism.
Launched this September, the International School of Journalism is the joint project of the TV and Radio Complex of the Kazakh President and Maqsut Naribayev University aimed at preparing, assisting, promoting professional development of talented youth in the field of modern media communications.
