Employment roadmap keeps jobs in Kazakhstan - Vice PM

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The "Employment Roadmap" State Program for 2020 helps preserve workplaces in Kazakhstan, believes Vice Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Berdibek Saparbayev.

"Adopted in 2007, the program helped preserve jobs of millions of Kazakhstanis during the global economic crisis. Back then it was forecasted that up to one million of Kazakhstanis would lose their jobs, however, measures assumed by the Kazakh Government helped avoid it. The Employment Roadmap still plays an important role in keeping of jobs in the country," Saparbayev said, addressing the 8th Astana Economic Forum on Thursday. According to the Vice Prime Minister, unemployment rate in Kazakhstan which has recently amounted to 5% is quite low given the complicated situation at the global labor market where analogous rate makes 10-20%.
