Energy Charter Conference to take place in Astana

Minister of Economy of the Netherlands Henk Kemp, president of "Lukoil" Vagit Alekperov and other senior officials have already confirmed their participation in the event. "The meeting of the conference will bring together not only all the members of the Energy Charter, but representatives of observer countries, heads of international organizations, leading experts involved in the negotiation process, as well as representatives of major oil and energy organizations", said the Minister. In the Kazakh capital, it is planned to adopt the Astana Roadmap. This document is of paramount importance since it will to certain extent determine the future of the organization for the next 5 years. The latest roadmap was adopted in Rome in 2009. Kazakhstan chairs the Energy Charter Conference this year. The Energy Charter Conference, an inter-governmental organization, is the governing and decision-making body for the Energy Charter process, and was established by the 1994 Energy Charter Treaty.
