Energy Minister reveals potential location of new oil refinery in Kazakhstan
Kazakh Energy Minister Almassadam Satkaliyev revealed the planned location of a new oil refinery in Kazakhstan during the government hour at the Majilis, Kazinform News Agency reports.
In his words, a number of preliminary factors may affect the construction of the new refinery.
“There are plans to build the fourth refinery after 2030. It is clear that preliminary factors will have an impact on the ultimate decision regarding the construction of the refinery. These factors include the pace of electrification of transport, consumption of energy resources, and our export capabilities. It is the intention of the government to export share of the products produced there. The preliminary site is western Kazakhstan, although this is still under consideration. It is planned to build the refinery with a capacity of 10 million tons per year starting in 2030,” Almassadam Satkaliyev stated.
Earlier, addressing the government hour at the Majilis, Kazakh Energy Minister announced plans to construct a new oil refinery in the country.
