Erlan Karin: Election of Kazakhstan to UNESCO World Heritage Committee is evidence of international recognition
The election of Kazakhstan to the UNESCO World Heritage Committee is the evidence of international recognition of the active work on preservation of the country’s unique cultural and natural heritage, according to State Counsellor Erlan Karin, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Good news came from Paris. On the last day of the 24th session of the UNESCO General Assembly, Kazakhstan was elected a member of the World Heritage Committee for 2023-2027. The Committee which includes 21 states has been one of the most important and influential governing structures of the UNESCO with an exceptional right to decide on the inscription or deletion of properties on the World Heritage List, a post in Karin’s Telegram channel reads.
118 countries voted for Kazakhstan’s candidacy, he reminded.

Besides, UNESCO Almaty Office was transformed into the Regional Multisectoral Office (Bureau) for Central Asia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran, Erlan Karin notes.
