EU appraises document adopted at OSCE Summit

ASTANA. December 3. KAZINFORM /Alexey Kaulko/ The representative of the European Union took the floor after the Astana Declaration was adopted and thanked Kazakhstan for its hard work and commitment for the year of the presidency, in particular, in preparing and organizing the Summit.

"The Summit document confirms our joint vision of a security community for the future", she said.

The adopted document is not ideal and could not be, because it is the first document adopted in many years. Collective efforts of all participating states will help to improve the reconfirmed basis. The control over arms will be strengthened, strengthening of the implementation of norms, principles and commitments in human dimensions and dimensions that need to be developed would be elaborated.

"The European Union reaffirms its support to international conflict resolution efforts to stabilize the security situation and address humanitarian issues", she said.

The European Union expressed hope that work on improving the documents would continue with the next chairing country in the following year. It called on participating counties to work together for finally achieving the goal of building a security community.
